As the City of Los Angeles continues to deal with the effects of the worst economic crisis in generations, the newly-elected bargaining team members said they wanted to get started as soon as possible.

“We need to bargain for what is realistic, and what is achievable, in as short a time as possible,” said Gus Malkoun, a newly-elected bargaining team member representing the Bureau of Engineering.

The group of nearly 500 supervisory professionals voted to leave their previous union, the Engineers & Architects Association (EAA), and join SEIU 721 earlier this spring. The transition to SEIU won’t be completed until the City of Los Angeles Employee Relations Board certifies the results of the election, expected later this fall.
