Ventura County: Engage the Candidates on Critical Issues
SEIU 721 members will have the chance to meet candidates running for Ventura County Sheriff's and 35th Assembly District and ask them critical questions about issues that affect them on the job and at home:
- Fighting the Governor's efforts to balance the State Budget on the backs of workers, the elderly, the disabled, and our kids
- Cutting unnecessary spending to preserve quality public services and safety jobs
- Creating jobs to get the economy moving!
"The decisions of our locally elected officials impact the jobs and livelihoods of public sector employees in drastic ways, and I want to do my part to hold/keep them accountable."
--Marianne Robles, Administrative Assistant, Public Works, City of Oxnard
Watch the video! Before they could come to our town hall, candidates learned firsthand about the services SEIU members provide when they "walked a day in our shoes."
Ventura County Sheriff's Candidates: Members will question candidates Dennis Carpenter, current Chief Deputy and Geoff Dean, current Commander who are running to replace Sheriff Bob Brooks. This is the first contested election for Ventura County Sheriff since the 1970s.
