The Ratified Agreement Ensures:
• No changes to CalPERS retirement by agreeing to two lower salary steps for all incoming employees. Management agrees to maintain the current employee contribution levels (i.e. 100% after 5 years of employment.)
• The end of furloughs by no later than June 30, 2010 and the restoration of hours and wages prior to furloughs. • A fairness agreement that ensures equal treatment among LIUNA, management, confidential and unrepresented to ensure that SEIU 721 members would receive any benefits or pay increases given.
• A resolution to compaction, where currently SEIU 721 veteran supervisors are paid significantly less than their subordinates. Both sides reached an agreement to remedy cases of compaction among SEIU 721 members.
• An agreement to search for more affordable health insurance.
• Schedules for members working three days/12-hour shifts at Riverside County Regional Medical Center will stay the same. Members in other departments working 10-hour shifts may maintain those hours and will not be unreasonably changed.
The 2010-2011 Memorandum of Understanding and summary of the ratified agreement are available here:
“In this contract, nurses were able to secure a 72-hour work schedule. This represents a major achievement.” -Mark Grays, Riverside County Regional Medical Center, RN
“I can sleep at night knowing that I can provide for my family after experiencing major financial challenges last year. This tentative agreement means I will also be able to wake up and go to work knowing that I can help the community and victims of violence at full capacity because furloughs are ending.” -Maria Ochoa Flynn, Victim Services Advocate
“With this agreement, we can provide relief for members by reestablishing income lost, protecting retirement security and gaining the County’s commitment to treat workers fairly.” –John Huggins, Flood Control Supervisor
