JIMEE Committee Report – December 20, 2011

We agreed that, to be effective, the JIMEE committee’s main objective must be to identify tangible, concrete and quantifiable cost savings. The savings we find will be used as credit during the budget process and savings/wage reopener discussions, in order to offset proposed city action (furloughs, pay reductions, reduced benefits, etc.)
The JIMEE committee will be looking for both short term and long term savings. I requested that the CAO provide information on the amount and type of professional engineering/technical services that city departments use so we can become aware of opportunities we may do “in-house” for city departments.
We will be meeting on a monthly cycle and I will update you through this blog on meeting dates in case you want to attend.
