SEIU 721 Members to HSA: Stop Giving Our Jobs Away!
After SEIU 721 members in Ventura County's Human Services Agency (HSA) found that outside contractors were doing their jobs, an Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) was filed against the county.
Members Christine Basua and Andrew Walters, Employment Specialists for the Human Services Agency, provided great leadership during this process. The lawsuit resulted in an historic agreement that was finalized on May 9, 2012.

- SEIU 721 will receive any Request for Proposal (RFP) and related information before it is released by Ventura County.
- SEIU 721 will have two seats on the HSA's RFP Evaluation Committee.
- This provision will remain in effect until a new Memorandum of Agreement succeeding the 2010-2012 Memorandum of Agreement between the County of Ventura and SEIU is implemented.
- As part of their duties, HSA Employment Specialists are not prohibited or limited from performing job match assessments, resume preparation support, academic testing and job referrals with clients on a one-on-one basis.
