SEIU 721 and DHS Join Forces to Improve LA County Healthcare
Last month, the Supreme Court upheld the new healthcare reform laws. This is a tremendous victory for SEIU Local 721 members who fought so hard to help pass the historic law. It is also a great victory for the people of LA County, where millions more people will be covered by MediCal by 2014. Many of those patients currently use DHS - but will they continue to?
It's time for the LA County Department of Health Services to focus efforts on making DHS the best healthcare system possible and the provider of choice.

That's why SEIU Local 721, and DHS have teamed up to launch the "DHS Innovation Project". Every Service unit in DHS is encouraged to work as a team - management and frontline workers - to develop, design and implement projects that will help ensure high-quality, patient-centered, cost-effective care in their units - things that will improve the system for patients and raise morale.
Each team that submits a proposal is eligible to receive up to $5,000 in funding. But hurry! Applications are due August 15.
