Los Angeles County Student Temporary Workers Work Hard for Our Communities


Every day, hundreds of student workers help provide important services that the people of Los Angeles County count on. They wait on the public and deliver administrative support in virtually every department of L.A. County government. They provide assistance in health facilities throughout the County. They data-process 911 calls. They file medical records. They maintain the County’s parks and botanical gardens. Many of them work full time, doing exactly the same work as permanent employees, without receiving health insurance, paid sick leave, or the other benefits of permanent County employment.  Earlier this year, they joined together to form their union with SEIU.
We’re working hard to provide quality services to the people of Los Angeles County and we want to continue working for Los Angeles County. We’re coming together to form our union because we need a voice, and we need to be heard.
