African American Caucus Scholarship
The African American Caucus of SEIU Local 721 is pleased to offer a $500 scholarship to eligible students. To be eligible, the student must be a child/legal guardian of a current member in good standing of SEIU Local 721.

Native & African American: A Cultural Exchange
In addition to offering African American refuge during the period when legal slavery existed in the United States, Native Americans exchanged cultures with them (including music, customs and intermarriage) and joined forces with them in armed conflicts to resist European domination.

The Christian Church
One of the first independent black congregations was established around 1773 by David George and others in South Carolina. In 1829 the first African-American order of Catholic nuns, the Oblate Sisters of Providence, was founded.
