I served on the SEIU 721 executive board since 2007. I also served on the Santa Ana and the SEIU 347 executive boards. 721 Members First slate. I have worked for the City of Los Angeles for more than 20 years as a heavy truck operator. I was an active member in SEIU 347 and served on the bargaining team. I have also served as a SEIU 721 executive board member. My experience with the City of Los Angeles has taught me how to struggle and win! Now I want to apply that winning experience to our union, SEIU Local 721, as an executive board member. With the strength of 80,000 members and our winning experience, there is nothing we can't accomplish!

My name is Cheryl Henry. I have been a City of Los Angeles employee for the Bureau of Parking Enforcement and Intersection Control almost 14 years.  I have been a union shop steward for 11 years.  I am currently on the Joint Labor Management Committee for my department.  I believe in fairness and equality for all employees.  I believe without strong union representation, employees will endure unnecessary changes.  In these economic times change is necessary.  I am the candidate to maintain and obtain your rights.  With my experience I will get the job done.  Vote for ME!!

I am a Detention Officer for the LAPD. I am running for a board member position on the 721 Members First Slate because I want to see 721 do more for its members. I believe that 721 must reach out more to all of our members and let their voices and ideas be heard. I know that there is a difference of opinion on some issues, and that's ok, but we must work together in unity to accomplish our goals. On the 721 members first slate, I will see that the members are first.

I am seeking the office of Board Member as I wish to continue to participate and be involved in our union representation of our local members.

I am currently completing my 23rd year of service with Santa Ana and have served two consecutive terms as a Vice-President.  I'm a COPE and PAC member.

I've volunteered in phone banking, precinct walking, candidate interviews etc, in local, state and federal elections for the past 15 years.

I'm an offspring of a poor hard-working family born in the South who understands and appreciates the union's belief in equality and justice to all mankind.

I am Charley Mims, an active member for over 30 years and I am running to put 721 Members First. The SEIU Local 721 Governance Working Group elected me to chair the group which drafted the bylaws for our local union.  Previously I was Chair of the Board of Trustees of my local union.  When a member has a problem at work, we need to represent them; we need strength in politics to gather strength at the bargaining table; and to continue building strength we need to keep organizing so we can continue to put 721 Members First.

I am running for the executive board because I believe that the union should be for the members and by the members. Our slate 721 Members First is the only slate that has a member running in every seat.  Our slate believes that our union should include all members' voices, no matter where they work.  I have been a steward, on the bargaining committee and trusted leader in the union.  I will continue to stand up for all of us, fighting city hall, protecting the public services we provide. Hello my name is Judy Morgan a mother of 3. I am a city employee with the Department of Transportation. I have been employed for 13 years and a union as well.

I was also a PAT Member (Planned Action Team) in the HUD Division, as a group of employees we gather information and concerns of fellow traffic officer and took to management for a resolution.

As a Board member, I would put all my experience and knowledge of labor law and budget finance to help keep and create new city and county jobs.  Slow existing contracting plans and redirect a look at government service workers as more valuable and safer investment than privatized services.  I have been an active member since 1989.  I will be around for at least another 10 years.  Listening and team building go hand in hand with me.  I know how to pick my battles and I don't back down.  I will fight to earn your respect.

I've been employed with the City of Inglewood and a Member of SEIU since 1992.  I became a Steward/Board Member for the Inglewood Chapter in 1997.  In 1999, I accepted the duties of Secretary, which resulted in being appointed President of the Chapter in 2000. I was re-elected President for two more terms.  From 2001-2007 I sat on the Executive Board of Local 347 until the consolidation of the Seven Locals into One, at that point as a Board member was appointed to the advisory Board of the Local, now known as 721.
