Joaquin Avalos 80x80.jpgJoaquin Avalos
I have worked as a mechanic for the city of Santa Ana fixing police cars for 20 years. I have the experience it takes to be an SEIU 721 executive board member. I served on the SEIU 721 executive board since 2007. I also served on the Santa Ana and the SEIU 347 executive boards. I want to be part of the change that makes SEIU 721 a stronger union by involving more members and electing politicians that care about our issues. Vote for 721 Members First!

I have been a City employee with the LADOT and a Union member for 10 years.

As a long time union member I am committed to fight for all the members of Local 721. Supporting my candidacy will ensure your voice is heard and a board member that is accountable to you.  As our local grows I want to make sure we the members direct this growth.  I respectfully ask for your support because I am a fighter and I will fight for you.  I am a proud member of 721 Members First Slate.

721 Members First slate. I have worked for the City of Los Angeles for more than 20 years as a heavy truck operator. I was an active member in SEIU 347 and served on the bargaining team. I have also served as a SEIU 721 executive board member. My experience with the City of Los Angeles has taught me how to struggle and win! Now I want to apply that winning experience to our union, SEIU Local 721, as an executive board member. With the strength of 80,000 members and our winning experience, there is nothing we can't accomplish!

I am running for Executive Board on the 721 Members First Slate to ensure that our union continues to have the leadership that listens to the all members, no matter how big or small their workplace and moves us in the direction that will benefit our livelihood, and protect our communities especially in the budget crisis we are facing. I have been a loyal union member and a leader in our union for over 27 years and I would appreciate your vote.

Cheryl Henry 80x80.jpgCheryl Henry
My name is Cheryl Henry. I have been a City of Los Angeles employee for the Bureau of Parking Enforcement and Intersection Control almost 14 years.  I have been a union shop steward for 11 years.  I am currently on the Joint Labor Management Committee for my department.  I believe in fairness and equality for all employees.  I believe without strong union representation, employees will endure unnecessary changes.  In these economic times change is necessary.  I am the candidate to maintain and obtain your rights.  With my experience I will get the job done.  Vote for ME!!

Brian Hollenbaugh_80x80.jpgBrian Hollenbaugh
I am a Detention Officer for the LAPD. I am running for a board member position on the 721 Members First Slate because I want to see 721 do more for its members. I believe that 721 must reach out more to all of our members and let their voices and ideas be heard. I know that there is a difference of opinion on some issues, and that's ok, but we must work together in unity to accomplish our goals. On the 721 members first slate, I will see that the members are first.

Minnie Leal 80x80.jpgHerminia Leal
I am seeking the office of Board Member as I wish to continue to participate and be involved in our union representation of our local members.

I am currently completing my 23rd year of service with Santa Ana and have served two consecutive terms as a Vice-President.  I'm a COPE and PAC member.

I've volunteered in phone banking, precinct walking, candidate interviews etc, in local, state and federal elections for the past 15 years.

I'm an offspring of a poor hard-working family born in the South who understands and appreciates the union's belief in equality and justice to all mankind.

Dan Mariscal
Brother/Sister City employees; I'm a twenty-year steward/fighter for members/employees and
I joined Members for a Democratic Union (MDU) because the current union administration, like City Administration, failed us. 3 years of appointed 721 leaders = Our pay: Down. Staffers pay: UP. A $40M+ budget, yet only 10% for actual worksite representation. No transparency, accountability or member empowerment = Members Are Last! VOTE MDU!

Hermanos y Hermanas empleados por la Ciudad de Los Angeles;
Este administracion de nuestro union, como la de nuestro cuidad, nos ha fallado. Nuestros sueldos han bajado, mientras los sueldos de personal han subido. Por favor,Apoya MDU!

Charlie Mims 80x80.jpgCharley Mims
I am Charley Mims, an active member for over 30 years and I am running to put 721 Members First. The SEIU Local 721 Governance Working Group elected me to chair the group which drafted the bylaws for our local union.  Previously I was Chair of the Board of Trustees of my local union.  When a member has a problem at work, we need to represent them; we need strength in politics to gather strength at the bargaining table; and to continue building strength we need to keep organizing so we can continue to put 721 Members First.

Andy Morales 80x80.jpgAndres Morales
I am running for the executive board because I believe that the union should be for the members and by the members. Our slate 721 Members First is the only slate that has a member running in every seat.  Our slate believes that our union should include all members' voices, no matter where they work.  I have been a steward, on the bargaining committee and trusted leader in the union.  I will continue to stand up for all of us, fighting city hall, protecting the public services we provide. I ask for your support for the eboard.

Pat Perry 80x80.jpgPatricia Nevels Perry
I'm Patricia Nevels-Perry. I've worked for LA City as a Traffic Officer for 14 years and a Shop Steward for 12 years.

Do you want the same leadership for years to come or are you ready for a change? It's time for the members to run the union! When decisions are made and aren't in the best interest of our members, let's hold the decision makers accountable for their actions.  With your support we can make a difference.

Jesus David Rodriguez
As a Board member, I would put all my experience and knowledge of labor law and budget finance to help keep and create new city and county jobs.  Slow existing contracting plans and redirect a look at government service workers as more valuable and safer investment than privatized services.  I have been an active member since 1989.  I will be around for at least another 10 years.  Listening and team building go hand in hand with me.  I know how to pick my battles and I don't back down.  I will fight to earn your respect.

Sincerely,
Jesus David Rodriguez

Linda Stone 80x80.jpgLinda Stone
I am running for the union executive board on the 721 Members First slate because I believe that every member of our union no matter where they work or what they do deserves a voice on our board. I am a long-time steward, have served on the cities bargaining committee, and was also elected as treasurer in local 347. I ask for your vote because I am a trusted leader who can make sure that every worker in our union has voice on our newly elected eboard.

James Vaughn 80x80.jpgJames Vaughn
My Goal for Board Member is to strengthen the ties of this union with its members by education them on issues that affects their work place and increase the education to Shop Steward to represent members. My experience includes College Graduate, United States Army Veteran and City of Los Angeles since 1989
One of the reasons why I would like to serve as Board Member is because I believe in our union. I believe that I am part of the solution, and I would like to see that the members on the Board are as diverse as its members. I bring with me my unique view and life experiences that would enrich the board and in the union

I am running for the Executive Board on the 721 Members First Slate because I believe in a union that is run the by the members, and  stands up for and  fights to keep our membership strong in these tough economic times.
I also believe we should stick together as one in our union,  whether we work for LA County,  the Cities, Ventura or Riverside - we share a common goal -  to have a better future.
We need to stay on the path to a democratic union and I ask for your vote to ensure we continue our successes.
