Lawrence BealThe name of this slate - 721 MEMBERS FIRST- states the belief of its members and why I became an active participant. We all know the difficulties surrounding our union, cities, counties and special districts.
We can't afford to be complacent or just complain. We need people who can try to implement change so our members are best represented. This means finding solutions like Economic Summits, Vision Conferences or early retirement and presenting them to the policy makers. Voting for this slate insures the guiding principle is 721 MEMBERS FIRST.
Thank you for your support.
With the creation of our new Local and our new bylaws we have a unique opportunity to create a strong effective Union - A union that is transparent, inclusive and places its Members First. This is why I am running for the Executive board with the slate 721 Members First.
We are the member leaders who have experience and are dedicated to bringing your ideas
and solutions to the table. We are the member leaders who will listen to and communicate openly with the members we represent, and strive protect the rights and livelihood of all the members of this Local.
Barbara CayonI have been working for the County as a nurse for eleven years and have been active with SEIU for eleven years. I understand the concerns of SEIU members and the nurses who work in the County hospital, in public health clinics and in the community. I will bring these concerns to the Regional Board forum so that our members will have a voice to address issues of importance to our region and SEIU at large.
Greg HagansI have been a City of Riverside employee for 21 years. I have been an active Steward since 1997. I am currently one of two appointed Executive Board Members for SEIU 721. I have helped win numerous grievances, arbitrations and Unfair Labor Charges for the Members of this Local. I am a tireless, fearless drum major for justice. I love what I do for the Union and what the Union has done for me. Please elect me so that I can continue working for you. Thank you
I'm running for the Executive Board on the 721 Members First Slate because we have a reputation of trusted leadership. This is exhibited by our recent gains in reinstating our overtime and our passage of fair bylaws.
We are concerned about the economic crisis in California and we are committed to preserve services for the public we serve.
I'm committed to serving the members and continuing to promote efficiencies, early retirement, and other ideas that save us from cuts. I'm asking for your support so we can continue to stand for fairness and placing all 721 Members First.
Jack PorrelliI'm the father of two children. My wife teaches special education at our public high school, so we have no sense of security and fear for the future or our children. I am a seasoned legislative analyst with great contacts among area politicians.
As a veteran journalist and editor, I know what influences public opinion. Public employees and our unions are under attack. This is why I'm running on 721 Members First Slate.
We know this attack on our union is to destroy our benefits, eliminate our jobs and rob us of dignity and respect - join me in fighting back
Glenn SandersI am running for the Executive Board because I believe that together we can build a successful member-driven union. Our slate, 721 Members First has a proven record of both accomplishments and leadership. We have been able to form working relationships with politicians, employers, and other members that lead to a "Vision Conference" that has had an impact in Southern California. As members we can build a local that is the model for other locals around the country.
I believe that this first election for SEIU Local 721 is a great opportunity to realize the potential of this organization.
Wendy ThomasI am honored to be a part of the 721 Members First slate. As we continue to face challenging times ahead of us, I believe it is important for all of our members to have an Executive Board comprised of individuals that have a proven track record of visionary leadership, teamwork and accountability. Due in large part to the commitment of our Inland leadership team, we have witnessed the largest member participation in our history. Although we still face numerous hurdles, if I'm elected I promise to continue to work toward finding real solutions in the crisis's we all face.
Ed TooleI respectfully decline to run for the Executive Board of SEIU721. I support the SEIU721 members first slate and encourage members to vote for this slate.
I continue to be dedicated to workers rights and stewards as the first line of defense for our members.
