I'm Marlene Allen and I'm running for Board Member of the executive board of Local 721 on the Members First slate.  For 17 years, I have been an active union member in Los Angeles County. I have served as a shop steward since 1993 and have worked on bargaining teams for Unit 711 and Unit 777. I believe a strong and united union can improve work conditions for all represented classes. Solid leadership is the key to any successful organization and I am confident I can continue to serve the Local 721 membership in a reliable and positive manner.

As a member for more than 30 years, I know the importance of having representation that will fight for individual rights.  I've served as a Steward for 20 years and was a member of the board of directors for 6 years.  I've been a member of the ISD Steward Council for 12 years, winning most of my grievances. For 12 years I was a member of B.U. 201, which negotiated custodian contracts. For 3 years I was chairperson and helped negotiate a yearly $300 lifetime bonus for all custodians.
