June 3, 2008 – SEIU Local 721 members will make one final push today to remind voters to go to the polls in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.

SEIU members held political townhalls earlier this year to interview and endorse Board of Supervisor candidates in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. In Ventura, members endorsed all three incumbents Steve Bennett (District 1), John Flynn (District 5) and Kathy Long (District 3). In Santa Barbara, members endorsed Doreen Farr (District 2) and John Sterling (District 4).

“It’s important for us to support our endorsed candidates. We’ve chosen these candidates because of their support for working families and believe they will fight for crucial public services as the state budget crisis continues to evolve,” said Annelle Grajeda, president of SEIU Local 721.

SEIU members have donated both time and financial contributions to the candidates. Members have spent hundreds of hours helping with mailings, calling voters and walking precincts to share their support of the candidates with potential voters.
