Volunteers and Supporters Knock on Doors to Support Local Assembly Candidate

Tuesday, June 03, 2008

As the race for the Democratic primaries in the 80th Assembly District comes to an end, supporters continue to reach out to voters in support of Assembly candidate Manuel Perez

INDIO – Community volunteers and local labor unions hit the streets to get the word out about Assembly candidate and long-time resident of the Coachella Valley, Manuel Perez.

“Through our efforts we know we are reaching voters who have not been reached before to let them know about Manuel Perez’s record for working for families in Sacramento,” said Annelle Grajeda, president of SEIU Local 721.

Volunteers from the Service Employees International Union Local 721, the community group Strengthening Our Lives and other SEIU local unions have joined together to volunteer hundreds of hours in the 80th Assembly District. Many of the volunteers have spent hours in the sun, knocking on doors, talking to as many voters as they can.

Unions that represent thousands of hard working people in health care, education, construction, and many sectors have lent their support to Manuel Perez. If elected, Perez, an educator, father, and Harvard graduate, will represent the cities of Coachella, Indio, Cathedral City, and many other communities throughout the Coachella Valley.
