The SEIU 721 Rally on Wheels is rolling throughout worksites this week to gather support for our LA County contract campaign. Trucks provided music, campaign flags, t-shirts and food as SEIU 721 members rallied for a better LA County.

“We don’t want what’s fair, we want what’s right,”
said Akbar Chatman, Substance Abuse Counselor for LA County Mental Health, as he lead chants from the rally truck. “We have a chance to make things work better for us and the people we serve. Let’s get it done”

Our contracts are set to expire on September 30 and the County has ignored dozens of our proposals to improve jobs, increase efficiency and deliver higher quality services. Instead, the Board of Supervisors continues to demand a two-year contract that freezes the County’s health care contribution–even if costs keep rising; and a “financial crisis” clause, which would allow the Supervisors to declare a financial emergency and reopen our contracts to cut benefits and wages. SEIU 721 members are stepping up to show the County that we’re serious about improving our jobs and services — not just making short-sighted cuts.
