Red Cross Workers: It’s Time to Make a Choice

DONOR SAFETY: Management rejected proposals to increase the safety of donors by guaranteeing that Registered Nurses take charge of all blood drives. This is the why we we’re telling our stories. Click here to download, print and fill out the donor/blood safety story form.
HEALTH INSURANCE: Management wants to impose changes where they have no obligation to cover a minimum cost, and eliminate coverage completely for some workers.
WAGES:
In a move that shows management’s complete lack of touch with ARC workers’ reality, their proposal offers no wage increases for the rest of this year, and only 1% each in 2011 and 2012.
Should management be able to take away our health insurance and hand out miserable wage increases?
At our next union meeting on March 28, SEIU 721 members will take a vote to authorize our Union Committee to declare a strike if necessary. We have three bargaining sessions to go before our contract expires. This sends management the message that we are ready to take any action if we don’t see a change at the bargaining table. It’s Time to
Make a Choice!

“We, the employees of the Red Cross in Southern California, are what keep blood flowing here. We are recognized as the “Breakthrough Region of the Year” for 2009, for our productivity and efficiency. For management to make these proposals is a slap in the face.”
