LACERA Vote Protects LA County Services

Our retirement benefit is funded by 3 sources: employer and employee contributions, and investment earnings.
More than 25 SEIU 721 members and retirees attended the dramatic session. Hundreds more members and retirees called LACERA Board Trustees in the days leading up to the vote.
“We are committed to the health of our communities, and we are also committed to the health of our retirement fund.”
— Linda Dent
SEIU 721 Vice President
“While retirement funds have taken a hit during the recession, the economy will recover, and we will make up the money.”
— Cindy Singer
LA County Executive Board member
While the Board’s vote was a win for secure retirement and secure county services, the threat isn’t over. Political attacks on our retirement are coming from every corner, and Board Trustees said they may be forced to act next year if the economic recovery stalls.
Get Involved
Attend a training session on retirement issues and help get the word out to other county workers.
