Lake Hemet Municipal Water District members voted 86% to ratify a five year contract with LHMWD management, Thursday, June 28, 2012.
“I’m really proud of the team and of members. We pushed back and presented petitions signed by 100% of the membership to the Board when they wanted to alter our sick time. We stuck to our goals and came to a deal that was fair to both sides and gives the hard working workers of LHMWD some security for the next five years.”
– Mike Booth, SEIU 721 chief negotiator and LHMWD water operator.
Contract highlights:
• Five year term with a 2.4% COLA each year of the agreement
• Increase in boot/shoe allowance, cell phone allowances and safety t-shirts for workers that require them
• Sale of vacation and unused sick time at the end of the year
• $50 for retiree medical to all employees for any plan in and outside the state
• Improvement of contract language in grievance procedures
