JIMEE Committee Report – June 26, 2012

During our last committee meeting we were able to agree on two cost saving initiatives:
  • Using an experienced peer review team to examine design documents (plans and specification) in the early stages of project development in order to avoid costly design field changes

  • Developing a city-wide project delivery manual

Currently the JIMEE Committee has 10 recommendations to formulate cost savings and present to the Council. Several recommendations will not be considered for further examination, such as cell phone usage, airline discounts and smart parking meters. However, alternative delivery mechanisms for projects will be discussed further.
We will probably make our presentation to the Council in the fall when we start to formulate the fiscal budget for next year, so please continue to send me your thoughts, recommendations and comments on how we can continue to work more efficiently and save money.
