As it was “Bring Your Child to Work Day,” hundreds of members brought their children to the rally. They held signs and wore t-shirts that said, “My Mom Needs a Raise” and “My Dad Needs a Raise.”
After the rally, Supervisor Gloria Molina told KPCC, 89.3 FM: “I think it is time that we as a board respect the contributions that [county employees] made for almost the last six years. It’s time for them to get an increase.”
It’s been almost five years since LA County members have had a raise. Bargaining begins June 15th. The Board knows that LA County is mobilized and ready to fight for more jobs, better pay and healthcare for all.

A White Paper on the LA County Budget
Also on April 16, SEIU Local 721 released a 23-page White Paper that gives a snapshot of LA County’s economy and current budget outlook. Titled “It’s Time to Turn the Corner in Los Angeles County,” the report makes the case–through hard data–that it is time for LA County to give its workers a much-deserved pay increase.
