People across the country came together on Saturday, Oct. 2, to demand jobs and quality public education for all.
SEIU members from 23 states joined tens of thousands of Americans of every color and creed in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., at the One Nation Working Together march.
The march was covered by major media and captured the energy of working families one month before the Nov. 2 elections. A smaller but passionate crowd met in Los Angeles to hear about the challenges facing our economy and especially public services.
Retired San Diego County employee and SEIU member Luz Villafana told the Washington Post, “We have to demand that the Congress represents us, not the corporations.”
