Bargaining Begins: First Negotiation Dates Set for Riverside County

SEIU 721 Riverside County bargaining team is entering into negotiations with the County as the one-year contract that members ratified last year will expire June 30, 2011.
The teams met Thursday, March 10 to establish ground rules for negotiations. Unfortunately, the County came unprepared which will force the discussion to next Monday’s session.
“Our side was prepared but HR wasn’t, so now we have to spend time Wendy_Thomas_80x80.jpg
meant for bargaining on setting the ground rules,” said Wendy Thomas, communications supervisor and chief negotiator for County workers.
“Additionally, they are presenting us with data from 2009 when the
recession was at its deepest. These numbers are outdated for the current economic trend and shows a disrespect toward our members and the public.”
Negotiation sessions are open to all members. The first bargaining dates are:
• Monday, March 14, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Tuesday, March 15, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Bargaining location: County Assessors Office – Box Springs Facility – 6221 Box Springs Blvd. in Riverside, CA, 92508.
