LA County Social Worker Campaign for Child Safety
During the LA County Contract Campaign SEIU 721 embarked on a campaign for child safety. Social worker-to-child ratios were too high and children and families were suffering. After numerous attempts to convince the County to create an actionable plan to hire more social workers, the members of the Department of Children and Family Services and the Department of Public Services went on a six day strike. Their courageous brought about real change. The County came back to the bargaining table and agreed to higher more social workers. This is the story of our 6 day unwavering strike.
