Social Workers Rally for Child Safety – More Social Work, Less Paperwork

Educators, child advocates and children’s social workers rallied to call attention to high caseloads and unmanageable volumes of paperwork — caused in large part by an explosion of new departmental policies and bureaucratic procedures. The 6000 pages of directives and policies are hindering their ability to protect children placed in protective care. The social workers marched through the Hall of Administration to deliver three demands to the County Supervisors that would allow them to do more social work, and less paperwork.
