The Work We Do: Lillian Cabral
If you’ve been to an SEIU 721 event, chances are you’ve seen Lillian Cabral. From her trademark purple glasses and purple 721 t-shirts, this SEIU Executive Board Member is not shy about showing her Purple Pride. Lillian, who’s been an LA County employee for 39 years, works at LAC+USC, which is the hospital where she was born. She shares her story in this installment of The Work We Do and tells of how working for the county and having a union job gave her a chance at the American Dream. “I understand that the only way we have a voice is through our unions and through groups that are sick and tired of being sick and tired,” she said. “Believe me, it’s not perfect but I’ll be darned if I let anyone come here and tear (labor) down.
