Gregg Fritchle has spent the past two decades protecting children, as a child welfare social worker with the County of Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services. Now his goal is to bring his ideas and real-life experience to Sacramento, as a California State Assemblymember representing the 60th District (Anaheim, La Habra, Orange, Rowland Heights, San Dimas, Walnut, Whittier, Yorba Linda).
During nearly two decades as a SEIU steward and activist, Fritchle has fought for manageable workloads for child welfare social workers, visiting the State Capitol on nearly an annual basis to fight to protect funding for child welfare services, which are annually threatened with cuts despite research showing that social worker caseloads are far too high to ensure that at-risk children and families are adequately supervised.
“Gregg Fritchle knows what working families need,” said SEIU 721 President Bob Schoonover. “At a time when SEIU 721 members are in the fight of our lives, facing budget cuts and politically motivated attacks on working families, Gregg Fritchle has a first-hand understanding of what it takes for public workers to provide quality public services. That’s why he’s the right person to represent the people of the 60th State Assembly District.”
