Coalition leaders will meet with City representatives throughout the night in hopes of reaching agreement before the Council meets again at 10 AM Friday.
“We take the EERC’s vote as a positive sign that the City is willing to do what it takes to save services and jobs,” said Coalition Chair Cheryl Parisi. “The City Council has really stepped up and is working with us tirelessly to find the solutions that will maintain services and keep members employed.”
“If these cuts go through it will really hurt city residents,”
said Todd Tate, a 20 year City worker, now a Refuse Collection Truck Operator.
“It will impact our seniors and our kids the most.”
Todd stayed in Council chambers all day both Tuesday and Wednesday this week, to make sure Council did the right thing.
All eyes and ears will be on the City Council Friday morning as they vote to either move forward with layoffs and furloughs or take the right path and implement the early retirement program.
