Conejo Recreation and Park District Bargaining Team Delivers with TA

We did it! Our Conejo Recreation and Park District bargaining team reached a Tentative Agreement on a strong two-year contract that strengthens our District.

  • 5% salary increases over the term of the contract
  • We held strong on the Cafeteria Plan and Basic Needs Allowance

Membership/Ratification Meeting
Wednesday, June 14
11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Theater.

Absentee ballots will be available for members who can’t attend this meeting. Absentee ballots will be available from your bargaining team members on June 8th. Put the ballot in the small yellow envelope then put that in the larger white envelope and seal it, print your name, sign and date the white envelope. Give the white envelope to the bargaining team member to be dropped into the ballot box. You have until Wednesday June 14th at 1:30 p.m. to submit your absentee ballot.

Tentative Agreement Summary

Term: Two years. New MOU from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2019.

Wages:
The salary increases are a solid win and will help families keep up with cost of living increases. 2.5% salary increase effective first complete pay period in July 2017. 2.5% salary increase effective first complete pay period in July 2018.

Overtime and Compensatory Time:
An exempt employee required to work overnight at a District-organized camp shall be entitled to an additional six hours of compensatory time. These additional six hours of compensatory time are paid in recognition of routinely interrupted sleep time to address camp-related issues.

Cafeteria Plan and Basic Needs Allowance (retained):
Effective with the first pay date on or after January 1, 2018 and January 1, 2019, the District’s Cafeteria Plan contribution shall increase by 67% of the average of the individual plan percentage increases for the relevant year as reported by PERS, up to a maximum of 6% (e.g. if the overall increase is 6%, then the District will increase the contribution by 4.02%; if the overall increase is 13%, then the District will increase the contribution by 6%).

Bereavement Leave:
Parties clarified that step-parents, step-siblings, step-children, step-grandparents are now included in the term “family” for the purposes of this article.

Payment for Vacation:
Employees with 15 or more years of service shall be able to redeem additional 20 hours of vacation time (total of 60 hours annually).

Maintenance of Membership and some grammatical corrections.
