Procession for Racial Justice: June 8

We are living through a moment in this nation’s history that will not soon be forgotten.

As union members, we know that social and economic justice cannot be achieved without racial justice – they are inherently linked. That’s why our union, SEIU, has worked tirelessly to build cross-racial solidarity to achieve a brighter future for all working people.

As a union, we are committed to racial justice, and to rooting out racism in all its forms – whether it’s the anti-black racism that cost George Floyd his life, or the anti-Asian racism that caused a spike in violent attacks on our sisters and brothers of Asian descent in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This Monday, June 8, we will be joining Black Lives Matter, L.A. Voice, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and CLUE for a funeral procession from Leimert Park to Downtown Los Angeles to honor the memory of our fallen sisters and brothers, and to demand racial justice for everyone in our communities.

Primary Starting Location:

Leimert Park

4395 Leimert Blvd

Los Angeles, CA, 90008

Time: 9:00 AM

Please stay in your cars when you arrive. This event will be conducted as a funeral procession. Volunteers will direct you where to line up, as well as provide signage for cars.

Together We Rise. Together We Win.

In Unity,

-Bob Schoonover, SEIU 721 President

-Linda Dent, SEIU 721 Vice President

-Gilda Valdez, SEIU 721 Chief of Staff
