SEIU Local 721 2025 Regional Council Nomination and Election Notice

Nomination Process

Nominations for each of the four Regional Councils — Los Angeles County, LA/OC Cities, Tri-Counties, and Inland Area — will be accepted by Petition.

Members who have been in continuous good standing for the preceding two (2) years are eligible to be nominated. Eligible candidates may begin to collect signatures from current full dues- paying members in good standing starting on Monday, July 14, 2025.

Petitions may be returned by:

Petitions are accepted Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. All nominating petitions are due no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, August 25, 2025.

Incomplete petitions will not be accepted. Candidates are encouraged to collect signatures and submit petitions early for ample time to correct any errors. Please call the Membership Department at (877) 721-4968 #2 a few days after you submit your petition to confirm that it has been received and filed. Nominees will be notified of their eligibility and next steps, if any, shortly after the due date.

Blank petitions will be available at all SEIU Local 721 offices and can be downloaded from the SEIU
721 website at www.seiu721.org starting on Monday, July 14, 2025.

Regional Council

Pursuant to Article 7, Section D of the SEIU Local 721 By-Laws, qualifications for office are:

Two years as a Represented Member in good standing; petition signatures from 50 Represented Members within their region to qualify for the ballot.

Regional Council Seats will be allocated as follows:

• One (1) seat per bargaining unit

• Where some bargaining units are very large, they will be elected by the following formula:

• Each bargaining unit of 20-5000 members will get to elect at least one (1) representative

• Each bargaining unit with 5001-10,000 members will get to elect two (2) representatives

• Each bargaining unit with 10,001-15,000 members will get to elect three (3) representatives

Pursuant to Article 7, Section E of the SEIU Local 721 By-Laws, the Term of office is for three (3) years.

Ballot Count

All SEIU Local 721 members are invited to observe the ballot counts which will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 at the three Regional Offices beginning at 9:30 AM.
