LAHSA: Continuing to fight!

SEIU 721 members at the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority are speaking out and letting the LA Board of Supervisors know that LAHSA workers won’t be left out of county service!

As the county reshapes its homeless services department, it is vital that LAHSA members whose hard work has helped improve the homelessness crisis be included in the transition.

Hundreds of LAHSA positions are in jeopardy and SEIU 721 is fighting back to keep these union jobs!

LAHSA Stewards with Supervisor Kathryn Barger

The Los Angeles Board of Supervisors has yet to give the 500+ represented employees any assurances that their jobs and benefits will be protected during this transition phase. While we’ve made some progress in negotiations for these positions, we need to keep the pressure on.

LAHSA members took their message to a recent BOS meeting and told their stories of how they’re bringing their own personal life experiences into serving some of the county’s most vulnerable residents. These staffers have been instrumental in helping to improve the lives of people experiencing homelessness and they should be rewarded for their efforts, not laid off.

Supervisors must continue to meet with SEIU 721 and ensure these staffers are transferred into County Service where they can continue the vital role they play in the county.

Stay tuned as we continue to advocate for LAHSA members and those they serve.

When we fight, we win!
