UNION VICTORY: Hazard Pay won for LAWA members!

GREAT NEWS!

We spoke up and won hazard pay for our work in the Argo Ditch at LAWA.

Management heard our call loud and clear, and we’re finally getting what we deserve.

Make no mistake, we won this because of our collective SEIU 721 union power.

Here’s What We Won:

  • The work we do in the Argo Ditch — removing vegetation, debris, trash, sediment, oil, grease, bacteria, algae, and other contaminated materials — is recognized as obnoxious conditions under MOU #4, Article 5.10 H-3a.
  • Going forward: Employees assigned to maintain and clean the Argo Ditch will receive the applicable premium pay on an as-needed, daily basis.
  • Back pay: Management will review work records and pay eligible employees for qualifying Argo Ditch work during the 24 months before the grievance filing date (July 29, 2026).

What This Means for You:

  • If you are assigned to Argo Ditch maintenance or cleanup, you should receive the premium for that day.
  • If you performed this work in the last 24 months and did not receive the premium, you should be included in the back-pay review.

We fought for dignity and respect and because of our powerful union voice, we won!

We will keep you updated as we fight for our rights at the workplace! We must keep our union strong, show management that we mean business and keep fighting!

And when we FIGHT! We WIN!
