About 400 city custodians, all represented by SEIU 721, filled the Deaton Civic Auditorium at LAPD headquarters. All of them wore their uniforms.
“We had a wonderful day,” said Avis Harris, a senior custodian at the LAPD’s Metro Detention Center. “It’s always wonderful whenever any job appreciates you.”
After an awards ceremony, custodians enjoyed a catered lunch in front of City Hall.
SEIU 721 President Bob Schoonover says this is an event he looks forward to every year. “SEIU 721 custodians do a terrific job keeping city facilities clean and safe.
