November 4th Election Results

Candidates and ballot measures supported by 721 members did very well on the November 4th election: 79% of the endorsed candidates and ballot measures won and we won in 84% in the races that we represent workers!

Many of the candidates are incumbents who were expected to be easily reelected, but 721 members made a difference in close races and made history. Following up on the June Election where former U.S. Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis won a seat on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, last week’s election saw former State Senator Sheila Kuehl win a seat on the Board.  In the cities of Hemet, Oxnard, Santa Ana, and Santa Paula – SEIU 721 members elected enough labor-friendly candidates to have a majority of support on their respective city councils. This should help make a difference with our negotiations, advocating for public services and improving the quality of life for all working families.

The election results were the result of hosting dozens of member engagement town halls, phone banks, precinct walking, voting with and sharing our slate mailers with our families and friends. SEIU 721 staff and members completed more than 500 volunteer shifts!
See below for a complete list of the election results for 721 endorsed candidates and measures.
