SEIU Members Lorenzo Chavez (Army Veteran), Carolyn L. Consoli (Navy Veteran), Perry Morefield (Army Veteran), Yolanda Hernandez, and Susan Chavez volunteered at the 17th annual Stand Down for homeless Veterans in Ventura this past weekend.
“As SEIU 721 Union members we thought that it was important to volunteer in the community we provide services to,” said Carolyn Consoli. “This event held great significance because we had an opportunity to serve those who served our country, to thank them for their service and to be there to listen to what the Veterans had to say.”
The Stand Down offers homeless veterans help every year at the event from healthcare screening like various dental, eye and other screenings offered there, to a place to sleep for two nights at a camp built by Seabees, food, entertainment and free medical care.
