“I gave up my Saturday morning to phonebank for Tracee because I know that in order for change to occur you have to involve yourself. If you want better conditions then you have to go out there and be a part of it.”

Despite our support and a grass-roots, community campaign, Mendoza was heavily outspent by the winner, Barbara Contreras Rapisarda, in the April 14 election.
The immediate challenge facing city workers and the Pico Rivera City Council is finding a new City Manager who will restore fairness and respect for workers to city management.
Pico members are optimistic about reaching out to Rapisarda, a former teacher in Pico, and working together on behalf of city residents and the services our members provide.
