After years of delay, El Monte city officials agreed to schedule a joint labor management meeting with public works employees to discuss worksite issues. Ten SEIU 721 stewards and active members recently met with the city’s human resources director, assistant city manager and public works director.
Members had a productive first meeting with management on Nov. 3 and made a commitment to work together to resolve workplace issues.
“This has been a goal of mine to meet with management and find common ground so that we can move forward and build a better community for residents and employees,” said Chapter President Lewis Rudnick.
El Monte represents about 100 members including police civilians and workers in various departments such as public works, community development, transportation and finance.
