Despite Service Cuts, LA City Street Workers Respond to Emergency Needs

At www.keeplastrong.com, workers are raising questions about the City Council’s plan to meet emergency needs. Furloughs have further stressed the city’s ability to react to the current storm. Skeleton crews have delayed maintenance that could have prevented some of the storm’s worst damage.

“On days like today, residents are reminded how important street services are,” said Joseph Gomes, an LA City Heavy Duty Truck Operator. “We need to have a city that is prepared to handle emergencies.”

Here are three easy ways we can tell the LA City Council to fix our streets.
1. Write a letter to the LA City Council.
2.
Tell us where the worst streets are located in your neighborhood.
3.
Follow Keep LA Strong on Facebook.

  1. It’s great SEIU 721 started this blog spot (and the new website) to publicize the poor condition of the streets. Let’s see if we can get some good response from members, and the frustrated driving public, with these new sounding boards.
