One aspect I totally enjoyed was role-playing. Participants played
management on one side and the union on the other. It was a delightful
learning experience. I could see both sides of an issue and which
questions or arguments were effective. Some brought up questions and
arguments I never thought of.
If anyone is interested in attending these trainings, I’d recommend it
based on the fact that there’s always information that you may or may
not know. As far as being a steward, it expands your thinking process
and other areas to consider so that you cover all grounds.

I’m a shop steward with the City of Los Angeles. I’d like to participate in some of these training exercises, especially where one side plays management. I need some practice with this when I deal with grievances. I have an idea of the adversarial stance I might have to take depending on the severity of the case before me but I’d like to learn different aspects of this. Any info on when and where would be great.
