SEIU 721 members joined thousands of other union members for a march and rally in support of good jobs and strong communities. The event, which took place on March 26 in downtown Los Angeles, culminated in a mass gathering featuring speakers, video presentations and musical performances from Ozomatli and Tom Morello, among others.

Linda300.jpgEstimates put the crowd at over 20,000 people. Attendees said they came to show their support for working families, whose right to collective bargaining is under attack across the country.

Throughout the program, speakers repeatedly drew attention to the fact that Wall Street profits continue to soar while middle class Americans are finding it harder and harder to make ends meet.

SEIU 721 Vice President Linda Dent addressed the rally, saying, “Our economy is broken. We’re facing huge budget cuts that will hurt millions of Californians and fall hardest on our children and seniors. But you wouldn’t know it by looking at Wall Street banks, giant corporations and billionaires. They’re doing just fine and they’re not paying their fair share of taxes. That’s the real cause of the economic crisis we’re in right now.”
