Ebola: Healthcare Workers Spring Into Action

In light of the recent contraction of Ebola by a second healthcare worker in the United States, LA County healthcare providers, SEIU Local 721 and LA County Health officials held a press conference to provide an update on their latest information and protection protocols.

Working Towards Workplace Violence Prevention

State authorities responded to demands from healthcare workers for new rules that will protect them from violent attacks on the job, with the Cal/OSHA Standards Board adopting a worker petition that will make California’s workplace safety standards for health care settings the strongest in the nation. After numerous attempts were denied in the 1990s, this victory comes at a much needed time and will redefine what it takes to have a safe and secure workplace in this day.



Riverside Community Health Fair Set for Feb. 22

The 3rd Annual LULAC Community Health Fair is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 22 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cesar Chavez Community Center, 2060 University Ave., Riverside.

This is the second year SEIU 721 has helped sponsored this great community event, which helps those in need get free medical, dental, and vision care. Volunteers are needed to help with many different duties, such as patient check-ins.
