Hundreds of Riverside Workers Press County Officials to Implement Cost Savings Instead of Cuts

On June 30, more than 150 SEIU members attended the Board of Supervisors' budget meeting and told officials to implement cost savings and ensure all cuts are made equally across the board.

"SEIU 721 members are public safety too," social worker Jill Johnson-Young said. "We respond to injured or abused seniors, we fight pandemics and prevent infectious diseases and we keep children safe when they face danger."

"Our ability to do our jobs the best way we know how is being challenged by severe cuts," Johnson said. "We urge the county to implement cost savings first - that is what it means to be fiscally responsible."
