9. Nearly 600 Riverside County workers became Contract Action Team members committed to fighting for a fair contract. Members participated in lobby groups to the Board of Supervisors to inform them of the impact of furloughs and cuts to public services.

5.Seventy SEIU 721 members volunteered including member Carl Nelson (below) to be precinct captains focused on building stronger precinct structures in the Riverside region and five Inland members became Republican regional leaders committed to holding local caucuses in 2010.

4. Members partnered with Supervisor John Tavaglione and children such as Jacob Meslovich (below) to lobby in Sacramento to protect funding for California Children’s Services and keep the state from raiding local government funds.

3. Riverside City and County members identified 84 cost-saving solutions at a summit of efficiencies that also welcomed elected leaders. Members established a task force with the help of the late Supervisor Roy Wilson (below). The group identified millions in cost saving opportunities.

2. The Riverside County Bargaining Team (below) won overtime language for all SEIU 721 members. The contract ratification resulted in record participation, making it the largest in the union’s history in the Inland Region.

1. County workers created a human link around the Riverside County Administration Center with the help of about 800 members. The event received wide-spread media coverage and sent a strong message to the Riverside County Board of Supervisors.
