“Our number one job as adults is to build and maintain a good society for our children and their children,” said Marlene Allen, a GAIN Services Supervisor for LA County. “The only way to do that is to invest in our recovery — in our schools, colleges, workforce, infrastructure, and communities.”
How will the contest work?
Visit www.LetsRebuildCA.orgto send us 150 words and a photo about the young people in your life and why we need to rebuild California for the next generation. We’ll post the entries online and allow the public to vote on them.
The three individuals whose stories receive the most votes will get to appear in their own ‘Jerry Brown for Governor’ commercial — which will be professionally shot and featured online.
In addition to telling us about yourself and the kind of California you want to build for yourself, tell us about your children, grandchildren, cousins, or nieces and nephews. Who are they? What kind of California do you want them to live in? What do we need to do to pass on a great state to the next generation? What kind of schools, health care, communities, and economy will we need to build if we are going to flourish as a state?
Contest Deadlines and Requirements:
- Stories and pictures should be submitted between midnight on Monday, August 30th and midnight on Monday, September 20th to be considered. (All times PST)
- Winners will be selected based on the amount of votes received during the online voting period.
- Voting will be open to the public and begin midnight on Friday, September 24th.
- Stories should not exceed 150 words
- A picture must be accompanied with the story to be considered
- Only one story can be submitted per individual
