Los Angeles is not Wisconsin. But if the mayor has his way, it will be.
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and the CAO are attacking city workers’ pensions once again.
They have fast-tracked a new plan to add a second tier to the city workers’ pension system, which would drastically cut pensions and retiree healthcare benefits for all future city workers.
Join hundreds of city workers and our supporters for a rally at L.A. City Hall this Tuesday, the day that City Council is scheduled to vote on the anti-worker plan. Here are the details:
Tuesday, Sept. 25, 9:30 a.m.
Gather City Hall East (on Main St.)
Wear your purple shirt and be ready to make some noise!
The city’s actions are illegal and wrong. They want to implement the cuts unilaterally, without negotiating with SEIU 721 and the Coalition of LA City Unions.
“We all have to stand up to this attempt to chip away at our collective bargaining rights,” said tree trimmer Art Sweatman. “Time to tell the mayor that we won’t let him turn Los Angeles into Wisconsin.”
