Tapping into Compassion

(Photo Credit: Reuters) Protesters in Murrieta, California are intimidating and scaring children fleeing violence in Central America.  That’s why SEIU locals in California are launching a week of action. We want to bring attention to this humanitarian crisis. We must put the children ahead of partisan politics.

July 24 SEIU 721 Sponsored Day of Fasting
Meet at La Placita Olvera
9 am – 9 pm

Look forward to an action packed day with guest speakers, musical performances and arts and crafts for the kids.

We are asking everyone to commit to a fast from 9 am to 9 pm on July 24, if you are able. Your commitment and solidarity will speak volumes.

Your action will send a message: We have an obligation as a nation and as individuals to care for these children and keep them safe. Many SEIU leaders will fast for the entire 5 days, and we encourage you to join us in the fast on July 24.

Things to Keep in Mind If You Choose to Fast on July 24:

  • All solidarity faster must be 15 years of age or older and in good health.
  • Fasting begins at 9 am and ends at 9 pm after a non denominational spiritual gathering.
  • It’s okay to drink water, tea and/or juice during the fast.
