LA County CSSD to Reopen on Oct. 1, 2021 – Know the Safety Protocols

ATTN: LA COUNTY CSSD MEMBERS

Our offices at the LA County Child Support Services Department have been closed to the public since the pandemic forced a shutdown in March of 2020. Since then, some of us have been working on-site but most of us have been working remotely to ensure our safety and that of the public we serve.

LA County recently announced that CSSD will reopen their offices to the public on October 1, 2021. Our union has ensured that they will follow guidelines set by the Department of Public Health.

We encourage everyone to read the CSSD Reopening Plan thoroughly.

Be sure to examine:

  • “Workplace Safety Protocols” starting on Page 6. The protocols specify what public health directives that our members at CSSD, and the public, will need to follow.
  • “Anticipated Stages to Reopening” starting on Page 10. It includes information on reopening stages as well as teleworking schedules and rules.
  • “Communicating Stages of Reopening” starting on Page 17. This has details on what changes the public can expect, including In-Office Kiosks Payments and how we will handle In-Office Appointments.
  • “Division 2 – Commerce” starting on Page 36. Here we can find information on PPE we’ll be provided with plus a map of hand washing stations throughout the Commerce building.

Our union’s Steward Committee has met directly with the department on this matter. It is a top priority of our union to ensure the safety of our members as CSSD reopens.

We will be conducting Health & Safety Walk-Throughs periodically to ensure that safety protocols are upheld. The health of our SEIU 721 members is of the utmost importance!
