More Care, Less Stress in DPSS

Union Leaders Meet with Director Antonia Jimenez

On December 8, the chairs and vice-chairs of SEIU Local 721’s Eligibility Workers and Eligibility Supervisors bargaining units – Adolfo Granados, Yolanda Floyd, Ruby Dye, and Melinda Harrison – met with DPSS Director Antonia Jimenez to follow up on commitments that she had made on September 29, the day of the protest at DPSS Crossroads Headquarters.

Among the issues discussed were:

  • Reduce Micro-Management
  • Establish Workload Protections for Staff
  • Respect and Adhere to Collective Bargaining Agreements

“It was a productive meeting, and it won’t be the last,” said ES Chair Ruby Dye. “Some of the examples of micro-management we shared with her opened Ms. Jimenez’ eyes to what’s going on. And we let her know that we won’t stand for unreasonable workloads. If Antonia won’t address these issues, we’re ready to bring them to the bargaining table.”
