The votes have been tabulated. CAS NTT Faculty overwhelmingly voted to authorize an escalation up to and including an Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) strike with a more than 90% YES vote.
This emphatic vote result gives our Bargaining Action Team (BAT) the authority to call a ULP strike over USD’s labor violations if they believe the circumstances warrant that.
We on the BAT/CAT haven’t decided or finalized when to strike yet, and we hope USD changes its behavior so we won’t have to strike. The reality is that this overwhelming vote result sends USD administrators a strong message — we’re not going to sit idly by while the university breaks labor laws.

The university must negotiate over the effects of class cancellations on our union members. That’s not optional; it’s the law.
If a strike is called, the BAT will be in touch about the dates and expectations of members. A ULP strike is a legally protected union action.
Our next bargaining session is on Monday, April 28, and it will be crystal clear to the university that we stand united and are ready to hold the university accountable.
Join us for the bargaining session from 4:30pm – 6:30pm in one of the KIPJ (Kroc Institute of Peace and Justice) conference rooms.
