Praise God Almighty Thank you 721 Members and staff..

Susie

This is good progress but I personally would prefer a raise first year without a bonus or on top of a bonus. Thank you for conting to fight for us.

Mike

We should definitely do 1st year as a % increase rather than a bonus. Bonus is one time. % increase would be ongoing. It’s better.

Would be nice if 1st year is also 2% COLA and $2000 cash back like the 2nd year!

Vincent g kondo

Of course it would be preferable. Pretty sure that is why the County offered a bonus and likely nothing else to start with for the 1st year and a mix the second year knowing that a percentage increase is for perpetuity.

Tanya

I agree with this post. A 2% COLA increase for the 1st year is definitely something we should fight for. With rising prices, we need it just to barely keep up.

Scott Streisel

We have to do better than this!!

Edward Lopez

Terrible deal. We need a cola increase not one time bonuses

Diana Virrueta Reyna

I don’t agree with not having a raise the first year. I don’t care for a bonus, we need our COLA for first year!!! A bonus seems like hush money. We don’t deserve that.

Luis Venegas

$7000 cash right away is a scapegoat on real wages. If you get half of that as a raise and let’s say have 20 years left to work in your career, that can add up as so, $3500 x 20 =$70,000. Give us half that in a raise or we are giving up more than $100,000 when you consider retirement as well.

Scott Rogers

Who negotiated this? Rainman? or Forrest Gump..?!?

Rita Josephbek

Has the outsourcing budget been addressed?
Why not get the 5% in 2025?

Elaine Marched

That’s exactly what I’m thinking. We need the raise now to catch up we are so behind on the cola curve it’s diabolical.

Sybil Miller

Hello,

We would like a higher raise than the last contract! Also, a 2% COLA and $2,000.00 bonus the first year!

Elaine Marched

I’m not understanding why there is nothing for the first year besides a bandaid bonus. We don’t want bandaids and pacifier bonuses we want to be able to pay our rent.

Shannon Aguirre

Can we vote to have the bonuses in 24 payments for the year instead of a one lump sum? I believe it’s better for everyone to have it in each check when we really need it and when it’s not getting taxed so high and we only see around half that.

This is much better than what was originally offered. But I prefer:

Year 1: 5% COLA, $3,000 cash
Year 2: 5% COLA, $1,500 cash
Year 3: 6% COLA

sharon ruiz

Even if this is agreed on with the Board, we still have to make sure they sign..

I am appreciative and hope to see retirement have an increase as well. Keep up the good work everyone

“Don’t Silence Our Voices,” “Respect Our Contract,” “Shut it down!”, and “When we fight, we win!”

No way all that for a total 7% increase total and 7k over 3 years why does the disrespect continue I’m voting for at least a total of 15%COLA over the 3 years this is ridiculous do accept this bs offer.

Luis Leon

15% in 3 years doesn’t even cover COLA but that would be better than what they offered. In reality 15-20% minimum and WHY should we ever be asking to increase our medical? That should be automatically increased every year based on everything going up.

Jeri Stephens

Forget the Cash bonus, that technically amounts to nothing once they take the taxes out, Give us the raise instead in the first year, We need the raise not the paltry bonus that will not even make a dent in the current cost of living climate we are in. We fell for this before, We need a raise in the first year

Normie Ocfemia

We deserve better.

Yadira Rodriguez

No to bonuses!

Jose

So basically a 0% raise in year 1 and 2% in year 2 . Oh and those bonuses will definitely be tacked on to our regular check which means higher taxes. So in our pockets we’ll see way less. At least make the bonuses tax free!

Max

Yes we moved the needle, it’s a great start. Try adding 5% the first year, along with a NON-TAXED $5K. Probably the same for year 2 and 3 would be acceptable. Personally instead of selecting a health plan just put the health care contribution of $20K+ into my paycheck (taxed) and let me pay out of pocket. County is literally lining the pockets of the healthcare industry. How many of us honestly spend $20K+ on healthcare every year? Talk about corruption. It’s not our fault they mismanaged the money. Part of the deal should be a full audit of LA… Read more »

My wife recently had heart surgery and I never had to give health care costs a second thought. In my case, the current system works out great emotionally and financially. I’ve got enough bills to pay without adding my health insurance to the pile. Not only that, but after seeing the bills paid out for her surgery, $20k+ a year is quite a deal, trust me. That’s a premium, not how much is spent on your health care. The cost of having peace of mind when you get REALLY sick and have to be hospitalized. When you see a $600k… Read more »

It’s progress. This is not enough to keep up with the rising cost of living.

Francisco

Not enough for the working families!

Brett

Every member would receive a $5,000 bonus from the county? I’m surprised LA County would have that amount of cash.
Also, how much taxes would the Government take out?

Henry Dai

Government take half in taxes. I am unsure how much go to federal and how much go to state though.

Towanda Fudge

For the cash bonus this year we should not have to wait until October.

Phyllis Barber

Will the 5% on year 3, be guaranteed or is it at the Board of Supervisors discretion?

Tiffany Murphy

So since a bonus is what we’re possibly left with, can we actually be issued a separate check for the full amount or per ususal do we get it added to our already highly taxed check which is then taxed even higher due to them categorizing it as a “bonus”???

Henry Dai

I agree. We should abandon the one time bonus and fight the a COLA % increase. We should fight for a 3% first year, 4% 2nd year, and 5% 3rd year. Half the amount of the bonus goes back in taxes. A $5000 bonus is really just a payment of $2500.00.

CLAUDIA VALADEZ

We should receive promotions to a higher position, receive the $5000, and 4% COLA increase every 6 months. It is sad to see how much money managers, and analyst receive a month. It is humiliating. Also, we need a two-step or bigger increase to employees with a master’s degree.

Arthur Daniels Jr

Let’s not play games with comment approvals. Every voice should be heard, especially if we pay union dues from our checks. So once again, the County offer is better than the initial offer, but I prefer

Year 1:5% Cola, $3,000 cash bonus
Year 2:5% Cola, $1,500 cash bonus
Year 3:6% Cola.

Of course there is room for negotiation and variation, but I believe this is better than what was offered.

Jessie Cote

I am glad our union is working hard to obtain a decent contract for us but this time around I am not convinced with the new proposal. In the past, the bonuses we received were not the full amounts that were initially promised, as they were significantly reduced due to taxation. If we are moving forward with these bonuses, remember staff rely on the bonuses they are promised, and when the final amount is substantially lower, it leads to disappointment and frustration. I would prefer an increase % raise for the three-year contract rather than a one-time bonus in the… Read more »

I’m close to retirement, is the cash pensionable?

nicky sandoval

I don’t agree with this proposal. We need raises not bonuses. 5% COLA each year.

Aubrey Alo

Why does Kaiser employees get paid more?

Aubrey Alo

Based on my base rate $5,000 is 4%. Why not have that 4% instead of cash? Then another 3% instead of cash. then 5%. In the end we only get 7% raise from our current base rate.

Henry Dai

We need 5 5 5. 5% first year 5% 2nd year and 5% 3rd year!

Lisbeth Sanchez

If they’re willing to give us a cost of living adjustment why not make it an even 10% over the 3 years? Give us a 2.5% increase for year 1 & 2 and the 5% increase the 3rd year. If they have 7K to give each employee, divide it over the 3 years. I feel like that would be a better plan, but we will see how much further we can go.
