We Reached a Tentative Agreement with LA County at the Common Language Table!

Our historic 2-day ULP strike sent shockwaves throughout Southern California and across the nation, and our continued on-the-ground action – from practice pickets to civil disobedience at the Hall of Administration – kept LA County management’s feet to the fire.

Now, we’re happy to report that your elected Bargaining Policy Committee has secured a strong Tentative Agreement with LA County at the Common Language Table – one that locks in historic cash bonuses, Cost of Living adjustments, increases to our annual healthcare contributions, and beats back the County’s efforts to include language allowing management to unilaterally reduce our raises in the future.

Thanks to the organizing and action of SEIU 721 members, we secured:

  • $7,000 in total cash bonuses
  • 7% COLA increases over the life of the contract
  • An 8% annual healthcare contribution (24% over three years)
  • Beat back the County’s proposed “Poison Pill” language allowing them to cut raises in the future
  • Improvements to grievance language, expanded union access to NEOs, and a commitment to fill County vacancies

We can’t rest on our laurels — WE’RE NOT DONE YET.

Despite reaching a TA at the common language table, our Bargaining Unit (BU) tables are still bargaining. While LA County is indicating that there’s little to nothing for the BU tables, we need to bargain until the end.

That’s why we’re continuing to put the pressure on Wednesday, June 18th at LA County Board of Supervisors field offices throughout the county. We need all hands on deck for this upcoming Action Day.
